Tummy Tuck Marketing: Closing the Gap Between GLP-1 Consultations and Surgery

Tummy tucks were the procedure surgeons discussed most with GLP-1 patients in 2025, yet volume barely moved. For practices, that gap is the opportunity.

Few procedures are as closely tied to the GLP-1 era as the tummy tuck. Patients who lose significant weight often find that diet, exercise and medication cannot address loose skin and a weakened abdominal wall. Abdominoplasty can.

What the 2025 data shows

In the ASPS 2025 report, 88% of surveyed member surgeons said they received GLP-1 related consultation requests for tummy tucks, the highest of any body procedure, and tummy tucks ranked first overall among GLP-1 related body consultations.1

Yet national tummy tuck volume grew only 2%, to 173,251 procedures.1 ASPS noted the difference between consultation demand and completed surgery, suggesting a growing pipeline of patients still evaluating timing, recovery or financial commitment.1

Why interested patients do not book

  • Timing. Patients may still be losing weight, or unsure when they will be ready.
  • Recovery. A tummy tuck is a significant surgery with real downtime. Work and family logistics hold many patients back.
  • Investment. ASPS lists an average surgeon fee of $8,174, which excludes anesthesia, operating room facilities and related expenses.2
  • Uncertainty about the right procedure. Mini versus full tummy tuck, and whether liposuction or a body lift is needed, can be confusing without guidance.

How to close the gap

  1. Treat "not yet" as a pipeline, not a loss. Tag every consultation that does not book with the reason, then follow up accordingly.
  2. Build a long-term nurture sequence. Monthly education on timing, weight stability, recovery planning and financing keeps patients engaged until they are ready.
  3. Make recovery plannable. A clear week-by-week recovery guide helps patients arrange time off and support at home.
  4. Be transparent about investment. Explain what is included, typical cost ranges and financing options early, so the consultation is not the first time cost comes up.
  5. Create a post-weight-loss consultation track. Patients who have lost weight with GLP-1 medications have specific concerns. Content and consultations built around them convert better than generic messaging.

Key takeaways

  • 88% of surveyed ASPS surgeons saw GLP-1 related tummy tuck consultations in 2025.
  • Tummy tuck volume grew only 2%, to 173,251, signalling a large undecided pipeline.
  • Timing, recovery, investment and procedure confusion are the main barriers.
  • Structured long-term nurture turns consultation interest into booked surgery.
